Continuous Shape Transformation and Metrics on Regions

چکیده

A natural approach to defining continuous change of shape is in terms of a metric that measures the difference between two regions. We consider four such metrics over regions: the Hausdorff distance, the dual-Hausdorff distance, the area of the symmetric difference, and the optimal-homeomorphism metric (a generalization of the Fréchet distance). Each of these gives a different criterion for continuous change. We establish qualitative properties of all of these; in particular, the continuity of basic functions such as union, intersection, set difference, area, distance, and smoothed circumference and the transition graph between RCC-8 relations. We also show that the history-based definition of continuity proposed by Muller is equivalent to continuity with respect to the Hausdorff distance. An examination of the difference between the transition rules that we have found for the Hausdorff distance and the transition theorems that Muller derives leads to the conclusion that Muller’s analysis of state transitions is not adequate. We propose an alternative characterization of transitions in Muller’s first-order language over histories.

On conformal transformation of special curvature of Kropina metrics

An important class of Finsler metric is named Kropina metrics which is defined by Riemannian metric α and 1-form β  which have many applications in physic, magnetic field and dynamic systems. In this paper, conformal transformations of χ-curvature and H-curvature of Kropina metrics are studied and the conditions that preserve this quantities are investigated. Also it is shown that in the ...

Composition operators and natural metrics in meromorphic function classes $Q_p$

‎In this paper‎, ‎we investigate some results on natural metrics on the $mu$-normal functions and meromorphic $Q_p$-classes‎. ‎Also‎, ‎these classes are shown to be complete metric spaces with respect to the corresponding metrics‎. ‎Moreover‎, ‎compact composition operators $C_phi$ and Lipschitz continuous operators acting from $mu$-normal functions to the meromorphic $Q_p$-classes are characte...

TRANSFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF NiTi SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS TREATED BY THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSING USING DSC

Abstract: In the present study the effect of thermomechanical treatment (cold work and annealing) on the transformation behavior of NiTi shape memory alloys was studied. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to determine transformation temperature and its relation to precipitates and defects. Three alloys including Ti-50.3at.% Ni, Ti-50.5at.% Ni (reclamated orthodontic wires) and 50.6at...

Adaptive Tunable Vibration Absorber using Shape Memory Alloy

This study presents a new approach to control the nonlinear dynamics of an adaptive absorber using shape memory alloy (SMA) element. Shape memory alloys are classified as smart materials that can remember their original shape after deformation. Stress and temperature-induced phase transformations are two typical behaviors of shape memory alloys. Changing the stiffness associated with phase tran...
